From Tutlo to school

We built Tutlo. Now we're building the school.

For ten years we have been teaching English 1-on-1 — today 90,000 students learn with Tutlo. That decade taught us what really works in learning: one-on-one conversation, a pace matched to the child and an adult who believes in them. True Life School brings that into the very heart of the school day.

The story

Where this school comes from.

True Life School was not invented at a whiteboard. It grew out of ten years of teaching real people, every day.

01

2015 — it started with our own problem

We wanted to learn English ourselves, but next to work we kept cancelling lessons and could not stay on track. So we built the school we needed: lessons on demand, matched to a person and their day — not the other way round.

02

One mission from day one: education without barriers

Good education must not depend on where a child was born. Online 1-on-1 teaching means a child from a small town gets the same teacher as a child from the center of Warsaw. That belief has guided every decision we have made.

03

Today — 90,000 students

Tutlo runs over a million hours of 1-on-1 lessons a year with tutors from all over the world, for children and adults. The Financial Times has twice listed us among the fastest-growing companies in Europe.

04

The next chapter — a school

Technology made 1-on-1 teaching affordable for every child, every day. We believe this way of learning should not be an evening add-on to school — it should be the school. That is why our platform and True Life School exist.

What a decade taught us

Ten years in education taught us four things. Our method stands on them.

True Life School is not a bet. Every pillar of the model comes from something we tested on hundreds of thousands of real lessons at Tutlo.

Lesson 1

Motivation beats product

There are countless ways to learn — many of them free. People do not quit learning for lack of materials; they quit for lack of support. That is why at TLS a child is surrounded by people, and technology stays in a supporting role.

Lesson 2

1-on-1 works like nothing else

Over a million hours of lessons a year showed us how fast a person grows when someone works only with them. The platform gives that to every child, every day — at a cost no school with one teacher per 25 kids can match.

Lesson 3

Immersion beats lessons

A language is not learned from a textbook but by living in it — real conversation with people for whom it is their own language. That is why a TLS campus runs in English all day, with mostly native-speaker staff.

Lesson 4

We level the playing field

Good education must not depend on a postcode. Every child deserves the same access to great teaching — that is why one TLS membership will work at every campus in the network, and the learning travels with the child.

Founders

A school you can look in the eye.

The people building True Life School.

Operating principles.

These principles guide both the product and the school operations.

  • Technology for personalization; humans for care, culture and judgment.
  • Evidence before claims.
  • City-by-city realism instead of global overpromising.
  • A day designed around the child, with technology in a supporting role.

Who else you will meet.

Founders set the direction — but your child will spend the day with guides, teachers and local operators. We show them to you before you decide.

01

Education board

Curriculum, child development and assessment are shaped with teachers and pedagogy specialists.

02

Local operators

Each campus is run by local operators and educational guides from that city. You meet them in person at parent briefings and Experience Days, before you decide.
